Green-fingered students at the University of Sussex have won a bumper supply of Tamar Organics eco-friendly compost made from green garden waste.
Pupils at a Halstead school learnt all about how reducing, reusing and recycling can help solve the problem of food waste in the UK. In a special assembly, children at Richard de Clare primary school found out about how much food is wasted in the UK and what they can do to help reduce it.
By signing up to the Food Waste Pyramid, food businesses can highlight positive initiatives to reduce food waste and promote practical solutions that save resources by avoiding unwanted surpluses, diverting surplus food to charities or livestock feed and avoiding landfill.
Tamar Energy has been shortlisted – twice – in the “AD team of the year” category of the AD & Biogas Industry 2015 Awards, in a year which has seen it add a further three operational AD plants to its national network.
